Overview

SUMMARY

Under close supervision, production employees perform duties relating to the production of sparkling and still wine.  Duties include working with a team on various positions of the tirage bottling and disgorging lines, the mobile still bottling line, filling or emptying bins and hand labeling.  Other duties will be assigned during harvest.

 

 

 

 

 

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

 

Tirage Bottling – Stations include loading bulk glass bottles onto conveyor, bottle inspection, and loading tirage bins.

 

Riddling

  • Transfer bottles from tirage bins to riddling bins.
  • Hand-riddle bottles on riddling racks.

 

Disgorging Line – Stations include loading conveyor line, inspection, labeling, packing and palletizing.

  • Transfer bottles from riddling bins onto conveyor line.
  • Inspect corked bottles for defects in glass, fill levels or wine sediment.
  • Monitor output of labeling machine and capsule machine.
  • Load filled bottles into empty cases and pass through taping machine.
  • Move filled cases, using a vacu-assist hoist onto pallets.

 

Hand Labeling

  • Label and pack bottles that can not be labeled by machine

 

Still Bottling – Station include loading conveyor line, unloading conveyor line, closing cases, labeling boxes and palletizing.

  • Flip cases of glass onto conveyor line.
  • Load filled bottles into cases.
  • Close cases and pass through taping machine.
  • Place stickers on cases.
  • Palletize cases manually.

 

Cellar – Assisting main cellar worker

  • Cellar and tank sanitation.

 

Other duties may be assigned.

 

 

 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in setup and cleanup activities, including cleaning of labeler parts, hosing down floors, and storing packaging materials.
  • May assist is still wine barrel work.
  • May perform sanitation on disgorging and tirage line machines.
  • May operate forklift as needed.
  • Participate in seasonal harvest-related work as assigned. Seasonal harvest duties include driving forklifts, shoveling pomace from tanks, washing equipment and surfaces and limited operation of cellar equipment such as hoses and pumps for pump-overs and punch-downs.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisor duties.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma, GED, or previous production experience.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, written and spoken.
  • Must have basic math skills
  • Must be able to work an alternative week work schedule (4 ten hour days, Tues.-Fri.), work six days per week 10 – 12 hours per days during harvest and other overtime through the year as needed.
