Overview

The Greeter/Hostess is our first impression to our guest experience responsible for ensuring prompt attention of all guests arriving at the Visitor Center.  He/She will ensure courteous and efficient communication of service options including tour details and taking table reservations.  The Greeter/Hostess answers incoming calls, provides guests with Sonoma Valley/Wine Country points of interest information and may assist the servers or cashier as needed.  This position is for an upbeat multitasker with a calm composure.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain complete knowledge of the Visitor Center layout, table/seat/station numbers, proper table set-ups, room capacity, hours of operation and price lists.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards at entrance.
  • Greet and acknowledge all arriving guests. Describe tour and service options.
  • Manage table chart, arrivals and seating times.
  • Provide/share event flyers to guests who are waiting.
  • Escort guests to tables and assist in seating at tables; present menus and speak of any current specials.
  • Prepare and coordinate scheduled visits coming in (VIP’s, Tour groups, etc.)
  • Answer phones and inquiries. Provide Sonoma Valley/ Wine Country points of interest information.
  • Periodically check with Tasting Room Manager, Supervisors and Sales staff to review updates/changes on guest seating, count and arrivals.
  • Daily house count, arrivals/departures, VIPS

Other duties may be assigned

  • May operate cashier as needed.
  • Maintains trash receptacles, recycle bins and storage rooms.
  • May assist at Special Events.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Restaurant experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Wine Country points of interest
  • Must have a positive, can-do attitude and be able to think ahead
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remain calm and courteous.
  • Ability to provide clear and pleasant communication.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast paced environment.
  • Must be available to work weekends, evenings and holidays.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand and walk up to 8 hours per day.
